SCC Hires New Associate Dean of Technical Training

Dr. Mike Ammons has been named the new Associate Dean of Technical Training at Southeastern Community College.

Ammons holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration: Management and Organizational Development from the University of Mount Olive, an MBA, and both an Ed.S. and Ed. D. in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.

Early in his career, Ammons was in the United States Air Force as a Morse Systems Operator for the Signals Intelligence Squadron where he was stationed in Japan, Texas, Maryland, and Massachusetts. During his enlistment, Ammons worked at the National Security Agency and the American-Japanese Joint Task Force. 

Ammons has over 15 years of experience in higher education beginning with his career at the University of Mount Olive, where he served as the Assistant Director and the Director of Evening College Admissions. After, Ammons worked in grant funded Trio program in Johnston Community College as a Counselor/Success Coach. He also worked for North Carolina Wesleyn University as Campus Director and as an Adjunct Business Faculty member. He then transitioned to the Training Lead with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, helping to implement a statewide case management system for the 100 county agencies. Ammons then returned to the North Carolina Community College system working with Cape Fear Community College as the Director of Academic and Career Readiness. He has taught and developed numerous undergraduate and graduate courses in the fields of management, leadership, business administration, human resources, and ethics. He has been a member of the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) since 2016 in the roles of Committee Evaluator, Committee Chair, and Mentor.

The Spring 2023 Workforce Continuing Education schedule is published and students can register online, by phone, or in-person.

The college is currently awarding FREE TUITION + FEES to eligible students for Spring semester. The deadline to easily apply for free tuition is December 14, 2022.
