Educational Talent Search

Educational Talent Search serves 850 students in Columbus County and Whiteville City Schools. Free supportive services include tutoring and mentoring; personal, career, academic, and financial literacy counseling; exposure to college campuses and cultural enrichment activities; and assistance with college entrance exam preparation, financial aid and college admissions applications.

Application Process

Students currently attending schools served by Southeastern Community College ETS that are interested in becoming ETS participants should contact either their guidance counselor or the ETS office directly.

Tutoring Information

Current ETS participants interested in receiving free tutoring should contact their coordinator immediately to make this request. All tutoring must be pre-approved by the ETS office.

Stem Music Camp

Date: July 26 – 29, 2021

Stem Music Camp Application

We are excited to welcome students back to campus with hands-on activities that focus on songwriting, beat making, podcasting, publishing, creative writing, and more. Students will also learn about careers in the music industry, copyrights, audio editing, and have an opportunity to create their own beats.

Enrollment in the camp is limited.

Interested students must complete an Educational Talent Search application, and submit a copy of their report card/transcript if they are not already enrolled in the program.

A small stipend will be paid upon completion of the camp.

Camp Cardiac Care

Date: July 12 – July 15
Time: 8:45 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Location: SCC Campus
Deadline to Register: Friday, July 2
Rising 9th and 10th graders

Health Camp Application

This camp is great for students interested in pursuing a career in allied health. Camp Cardiac Care is filled with hands-on learning in nursing, medical lab technology, phlebotomy, nurse aide, EMT, CPR, and first-aid training at Southeastern Community College.

Enrollment in the camp is limited.

Interested students must complete an Educational Talent Search application, and submit a copy of their report card/transcript if they are already enrolled in the program.

A small stipend will be paid upon completion of the camp.

STEM Robotics Course

Date: June 15, 17, 22, and 24
Time: 10 a.m. – 12 noon.
Location: Virtual
Deadline to Register: Monday, June 7
High School Students

STEM Robotics Camp Application

The camp will provide an introduction to Robotics, Computer Programming and Beginner Block Coding. Students will perform activities with real robots. You can learn more about the course at nucleusrobotics.com.

Enrollment in the camp is limited.

Interested students must complete an Educational Talent Search application, and submit a copy of their report card/transcript if they are already enrolled in the program.

A small stipend will be paid upon completion of the camp.

Science Camp

Date: June 21 – 24, 2021
Time: 9 a.m. – 12 noon
Location: SCC Campus
Deadline to Register: Monday, June 14
Rising 7th and 8th graders

Science Camp Application

The camp will provide hands-on activities that focus on Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Technology, and Math. Each student will receive a kit with supplies to complete the activities. Enrollment in the camp is limited.

A small stipend will be paid to students that complete the camp.
