Educational Talent Search serves 850 students in Columbus County and Whiteville City Schools. Free supportive services include tutoring and mentoring; personal, career, academic, and financial literacy counseling; exposure to college campuses and cultural enrichment activities; and assistance with college entrance exam preparation, financial aid and college admissions applications.

Application Process

Students currently attending schools served by Southeastern Community College ETS that are interested in becoming ETS participants should contact either their guidance counselor or the ETS office directly.

Tutoring Information

Current ETS participants interested in receiving free tutoring should contact their coordinator immediately to make this request. All tutoring must be pre-approved by the ETS office.

UPCOMING CAMPS

STEM Music Camp

Rising 9th, 10, and 11 graders with an interest in music and audio production are encouraged to apply for enrollment in our virtual Music and Audio production camp sponsored. The camp will meet virtually Monday-Thursday, July 20 – 23 and July 27 – 30 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Students must have internet access and a smartphone, tablet, or computer.  Activities will include songwriting, beat-making, music composition, podcasting recording, and familiarization of professional music production/editing software. Students will create everything in the songs including instrumentation, tempo, effects, and final mix. They also get to put their own lyrics with the music! Lead and background vocals are recorded by the students also.

Enrollment in the camp is limited, and students must register and complete the application no later than Monday, July 13th.

Educational Talent Search is funded 100% by the Department of Education with a budget of $437,369 for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.
