Educational Talent Search

Educational Talent Search is federally funded by the United States Department of Education to serve 6th – 12th-grade students in Columbus County. The purpose of the program is to encourage participants to graduate from high school and continue to complete postsecondary education. Free supportive services include career, academic, and financial literacy counseling, exposure to college campuses, cultural enrichment activities, assistance with:

  • college entrance exam preparation,
  • financial aid applications,
  • and college admissions applications.

2023 Summer Camps

The Educational Talent Search program will host two camps this summer. The camps will be offered on SCC’s campus. All camps are free to students. Enrollment is limited in all camps, so students are encouraged to enroll early. A snack and a meal card for lunch will be provided daily. Registration forms and instructions for the registration process can be found below.

STEM Science CampJuly 10 – 13, from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.6th, 7th, and 8th gradersHands-on activities will focus on biology, physics, chemistry, engineering, technology, and math. Students will also learn about various careers in the science industry.

2023 STEM Science Camp Application

STEM Music CampJune 26 – 29 | 8:30am – 12:30pm6th – 12th-grade studentsHands-on activities will focus on songwriting, beat making, podcasting, creative writing, and more. Students will also learn about careers in the music industry, copyrights, audio editing, and have an opportunity to create their own beats.

Students currently attending schools served by Southeastern Community College ETS that are interested in becoming ETS participants should contact either their guidance counselor or the ETS office directly.

Tutoring Information

Current ETS participants interested in receiving free tutoring should contact their coordinator immediately to make this request. All tutoring must be pre-approved by the ETS office.
