Southeastern Community College gains SACSCOC approval for offsite instruction
In a significant development for Southeastern Community College (SCC), the institution has achieved an approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) for three new off-campus instructional sites. The recent on-site evaluation by the SACSCOC review team marks a milestone for SCC’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities beyond the main campus.
The approval encompasses offsite instruction at East Columbus, South Columbus, and Whiteville High School, reflecting the collaborative efforts and dedication of the entire SCC team and our partners at Columbus County and Whiteville City Schools.
The accreditation process demanded months of rigorous research, documentation, and thorough preparation of high school partners for interviews. Despite these challenges, SCC has emerged with an unofficial approval, setting the stage for final documentation submission to the SACSCOC board for full approval in June.
President Chris English extends congratulations to the SCC faculty and staff for their success in securing offsite approval. Special recognition is given to Dr. Sylvia Cox, Dr. Natalie Hinson, and Carol Ann Lydon for their exceptional leadership throughout the accreditation process.
Notably, there were no recommendations or suggestions for improvement, setting a remarkable standard in the accreditation process.
