Policy 2.04 - Drug and Alcohol Policy

The drug and alcohol policy of the college is required by the Drug-Free Workplace Act. The act requires that agencies receiving federal grants certify that they are providing a drug-free workplace. The use of drugs or alcohol may impair the well-being of employees, students, and the public at large; drug and alcohol use may also result in damage to college property. Therefore, the unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensation, possession, use, or being under the influence of a controlled substance or alcohol is prohibited while in the workplace or on college premises.

Any employee or student violating this policy is subject to disciplinary action up to and including referral for prosecution, expulsion, or termination. This policy applies to both students and college employees.

Use of alcoholic beverages at special events may be permitted in college buildings, on college grounds, or at college-sponsored events only under special approval by the President. Reference to Procedure 2.04.02 Alcohol at Special Events.
