Procedure 5.17.01 - Calculation of Annual Leave and Sick Leave


The purpose of this procedure is to clarify and simplify how leave is calculated for reporting purposes.  Leave must be taken for the actual hours missed at work and is calculated on an hour for hour basis.  All days of the week (Monday – Friday) equal eight (8) hours of leave.  Employees who take a full day of leave (Monday – Friday) will be charged eight (8) hours of leave.  Leave must be taken in increments of one (1) hour.

Examples:

If an employee takes a full day of vacation or sick leave, he/she must report eight (8) hours of leave.

If an employee takes a half day of vacation or sick leave, he/she must report four (4) hours of leave.
