UPDATE ON COVID-19 CAMPUS MANDATE

At Southeastern Community College (SCC), we are working to protect our fellow Rams and community from COVID.

SCC is closely monitoring updates from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, and the Columbus County Health Department regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and other related health issues. SCC officials are being updated and meeting as needed to review ongoing plans to help ensure the safety of our students, faculty, staff, and community.

Effective August 23, 2021, SCC will require facemasks to be worn by faculty, staff, students, and visitors for indoor classrooms, labs, clinical settings, regardless of vaccination status. Masks will also be required if you are in a confined area, meeting with colleagues, students, or community members. This mandate will be issued until further notice.

Key Points to Remember
  • Do NOT come to campus if you are sick, have a known exposure, or have tested positive for COVID-19.
  • The college encourages faculty, staff, and students to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and will offer opportunities on campus to those seeking to be vaccinated.
  • Masks will be required to be worn by all individuals participating in indoor campus meetings.
  • Employees who work in open areas exposed to the public are encouraged to wear masks, especially when social distancing cannot be practiced.
  • Employees who work in single offices are not required to wear masks when working alone. Masks will be required when two or more are together in an office setting.
  • While masking is not required while outdoors, the college encourages masks to be worn at outdoor events when distancing cannot be practiced.
  • The college continues to encourage all individuals on campus to practice mitigation strategies established earlier related to masking, distancing, hand hygiene, and sanitation practices.
  • Individuals should not be asked to disclose their vaccination status.  This is private information and should be respected at all times.  The only time the College is asking for a vaccination status is if an individual has tested positive or they have been exposed to COVID-19.
