Christa Lynch, a May 2019 graduate of Southeastern Community College established a scholarship for students enrolled in the Medical Laboratory Technology program at SCC. During her time at SCC, Lynch was a wife and mother working full-time in phlebotomy, commuting from Brunswick County.

As a student at SCC, Lynch received the Lloyd and Beth Batten Scholarship.
