Emergency Medical Services

SCC is proud to provide training to prepare competent entry-level Emergency Medical Providers, Emergency Medical Technicians, Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians, and Paramedics. Training in the initial classes, as well as continuing education, is offered.

Requirements for EMT classes:

Prerequisites:

  • 17 years old
  • Placement test requirement for Basic reading comprehension skills at a minimum at the eleventh-grade level

Requirements for AEMT classes

Prerequisites:

  • 18 years old
  • High school Diploma/Equivalency
  • Successful completion of college-level English or successful completion, within the previous 12 months, of an entrance exam placing the individual into college-level English without corequisite courses.
  • Successful completion of college-level Math or successful completion, within the previous 12 months, of an entrance exam placing the individual into college-level Math without corequisite courses.
  • Possession of a valid and active North Carolina EMT Credential, NREMT or other states EMS Credential.

Paramedic Academy

February 28
Must be registered by February 1st.
Prerequisite:  Must have high school diploma/equivalency, must be a Current NC EMT.

Requirements for Paramedic classes

Pre-requisites:

  • 18 years old.
  • High school Diploma/Equivalency
  • Successful completion of college-level English or successful completion, within the previous 12 months, of an entrance exam placing the individual into college-level English without corequisite courses.
  • Successful completion of college-level Math or successful completion, within the previous 12 months, of an entrance exam placing the individual into college-level Math without corequisite courses.
  • Possession of a valid and active North Carolina EMT Credential, NREMT or other states EMS Credential.

Corequisites: Anatomy and Physiology requirements must be met before the end of the Paramedic program.

  • Students will be required to provide documentation of completed immunizations (as required by clinical facilities).

Dates:

The class starts on February 28. Students must pre-register by February 24.

Registration Fees

$180 for each class/semester taken. (Paramedic is approximately 4-5 semesters. AEMT and Paramedic students are also required to register for Field Internship/Clinical class)
