SCC Lecture to Recount Negro Baseball Leagues
Byron Motley, an accomplished singer, photographer and filmmaker, will present a lecture about the history and memories of the Negro Baseball Leagues at Southeastern Community College on Tuesday, Feb. 28. The event will be held in the College's Auditorium, and admission is free of charge.

FSU Concert Choir to Perform at SCC
The Fayetteville State University Concert Choir will perform in the Southeastern Community College Auditorium on Wednesday, Feb. 29., at 7 p.m. in celebration of African American History Month. Admission is free of charge.

Nominations Sought for Columbus County Outstanding Volunteer Service Award
Volunteer Columbus! is soliciting nominations for the annual Columbus County Outstanding Volunteer Service Award. Any individual, group, or organization in Columbus County whose volunteer activities benefit the community in a substantial, important or unique way is eligible. Students receiving course credits are eligible if their volunteer service extends beyond course requirements.

"I encourage organizations to honor and celebrate their volunteers by nominating them for this prestigious award," said Dr. Melody Prevatte, director of Columbus County RSVP. "Volunteers make an incalculable contribution to our community, and they deserve recognition for their important service."

Nominations must be received by Monday, April 1. The nomination form is available online at http://www.sccnc.edu/ccVolCenter.html.

SCC Music Faculty to Perform in Concert (Friday, Feb. 24, 7:30 pm, Auditorium)
The Richard F. Burkhardt Fine and Performing Arts Series will present the Southeastern Community College music faculty in concert. Faculty members performing will be pianists Dr. Sharyn Edwards, Larry McLendon, and Jeannie Ulrich, in addition to singer Robin Fort and flautist Michael Thompson.

34th Annual Dr. Sharyn Edwards Piano Festival & Competition
(Thursday - Saturday, March 15-17)
This event is dedicated to meeting the needs of piano students and teachers from the southeastern North Carolina counties of Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, Cumberland, New Hanover, Pender and Robeson. Participants from other parts of the state also are welcome.

Featured artist, Michael Rickman, has achieved critical acclaim on three continents and is professor of piano at the Stetson University School of Music. A highly sought-after performer and teacher, he maintains a studio of prize-winning students, preparing them for musical studies in noted graduate programs, competitions, and positions in the professional musical world. >More Information


SPRING & SUMMER 2012 GRADUATES (Deadline - Friday, March 30)
If you will complete all graduation requirements by May 4, 2012 or if you will complete all graduation requirements by the end of the Summer semester July 30, 2012, you should:
  • Pick up your graduation application from the Records Office in A Building
  • Pay your graduation fee to the Cashier in A Building
  • Make an appointment with your advisor and review the application
Letters will be mailed with details about the ceremony, caps and gowns, and invitations. The Graduation Ceremony will be on the SCC Campus on May 4, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.
