Definition

Global awareness refers to understanding that individuals do not just exist within their own cultures but that all cultures exert influence on those other surrounding cultures and those cultures on them. Demonstration indicates that students can state how events that happen in another part of the world affect things in their own world and viceversa.

Global Awareness assesses student understanding in the following categories:

• Recognizes that events in own country may impact life in other countries
• Recognizes that events in other countries may have impact on life in own country
• Recognizes that much business is conducted internationally
• Recognizes that cultural differences may cause individuals to interpret events in different ways
