Purpose

The mission of the Business Administration/Electronic Commerce program is to prepare graduates for employment while providing them with a fundamental knowledge of the free enterprise system with an emphasis on electronic commerce. This curriculum is designed to prepare individuals for a career in the Internet economy.


Course Requirements

Course topics include electronic business, Internet strategy in business, and basic business principles in the world of E-Commerce. Students will be able to demonstrate the ability to identify and analyze such functional issues as planning, technical systems, marketing, security, finance, law, design, implementation, assessment, and policy at an entry level.

Students who complete the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree program may choose to transfer some credits to selected colleges and universities for further study and/or pursue employment opportunities.

Vocational diploma programs are designed specifically for those who wish to enter a trade prior to completing an associate degree and may be completed in as little as three semesters by non-developmental students on a full-time basis.

Certificate programs train men and women for immediate employment and may be completed in as few as one or two semesters on a full-time or part-time basis.

Students should consult with their advisors to help plan a program of study to complete program course work and fulfill the minimum general education competency requirements that must be met prior to graduation from the chosen program of study.


What can graduates expect to achieve with a Diploma, Certificate, or Degree in Electronic Commerce?

Graduates of these programs leave SCC with a strong foundation for lifelong learning in business and related fields. They are also well prepared for employment opportunities in government agencies, financial institutions, and small to medium size businesses or industries.

A background in e-commerce will typically qualify graduates for positions in Information Technology fields, including management of IT infrastructures, overseeing the development and marketing of Internet web sites as project managers, or as technical administrators in a variety of businesses and corporations.
