Coach Johnson was born and raised in Jacksonville, North Carolina where he graduated from Southwest Onslow in 1990. He, wife Jenny and two children currently reside in Tabor City, North Carolina. While at Southwest, Scott played football, basketball, and baseball. In his senior year, he led the Stallions to their first appearance in the State Championship, received All-Conference honors and was named Onslow County Player of the Year. Scott’s coaching career began the following year when he was an assistant for the Stallions baseball team while he rehabbed his surgically repaired knee. The 1991 season again ended with the Stallions making a return trip to the State Championship. In the fall of 1991 he attended Lenoir Community College. While at LCC, he was 2 time Pitcher of the Year, 2nd team All Region X, and Team Captain. After graduating from LCC, he transferred to UNC-W where he graduated in 1996 with a BS in Health and Physical Education. In the fall of 1999, Scott began his teaching career at Hunter’s Creek Middle School in Jacksonville, NC and also served as an assistant in Softball, Wrestling and Baseball. In 2000, Scott moved to Altavista, VA. where he taught at Altavista Combine School for 6 years. While at Altavista, he served as an assistant in Football and Baseball for 2 years before becoming the Head Baseball Coach. As head coach of the Colonels, Scott led the 2005 team to their first ever regional berth and the following year, 2006 the Colonels were again in the regionals. In the fall of 2006, Coach Johnson came back to Jacksonville, NC where he taught and coached at Jacksonville High School. In only his second year at Jacksonville, he led the Cardinals to their first playoff berth in 24 years while at the same time he obtained his MS from California University of PA, in Exercise Sports Science. In the 2007-08 school year, Coach Johnson was named the Head Baseball Coach at Southeastern Community College where he is also a full time physical education instructor. Coach Scott Johnson received the 2011 Southeast District Coach of the Year award during the Opening Ceremonies of the NJCAA Division II World Series in Enid, Oklahoma. | ||
