Do you need to earn your GED? Maybe you already have a diploma and just need to improve your reading, writing and math skills so you can:

• get a better job.
• enroll in college.
• help children or grandchildren with schoolwork.

If so, SCC can help! We have free classes throughout the county just for you. Enrolling is easy. Just select a class that is convenient for you and go to that site. The instructor will register you when you arrive. See you in class soon!

Students and job seekers have access to the Career Resource Room for extensive career exploration, on-line job applications and assistance with job search efforts. Customers also have access to representatives of several partner agencies and groups.

Free services available include career and personal assessments, employment readiness preparation, short-term skills training, job placement assistance, résumé preparation, and career counseling.

Businesses can access applicant résumé and referrals, review labor market information and on-the-job training programs, receive prescreened applications, utilize space for interviewing job applicants, and receive employment and training services customized to their needs.

The Columbus County JobLink Career Center is chartered by the Cape Fear Workforce Development Board and the NC Division of Workforce Development.

Community Service Self-Supporting Fee Structure
All Community Service classes are self-supporting. All persons enrolling in these courses are required to pay registration fees which are based on instructional costs associated with each class.

How to Get Started:

• First, visit our Online Instruction Center: www.ed2go.com/sccnc
• Next, click the Courses link, choose the department and course title you are interested in and select the Enroll Now button. Follow the instructions to enroll and pay $65 for your course. Here you will enter your e-mail and choose a password that will grant you access to the Classroom.
• Finally, when your course starts, return to our Online Instruction Center and click the Classroom link. To begin your studies, simply log in with your e-mail and the password you selected during enrollment.

Requirements
All courses require Internet access, e-mail, the Netscape Navigator, or the Microsoft Internet Explorer web browsers. Some courses may have additional requirements. Please visit our Online Instruction Center for more information.

Instructor-facilitated on-line courses are designed to provide opportunities to update personal/professional skills, discover a new talent, or chart a career path at one's own convenience and/or pace. Courses include, but are not limited to, the following:

The Center works cooperatively with business and civic leaders and organizations, state and local governments, universities and other colleges in promoting assistance to small business firms. It provides facility management and technical support for the Business Development Center (small business incubator) in the town of Brunswick in cooperation with Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation; operates a Microenterprise Loan Program that provides technical training and access to loans from $500 to $25000 on a group lending basis for business start-up or expansion in the four-county area of Brunswick, Bladen, Columbus, and Robeson; and offers entrepreneurship training for adult students through a 36 hour continuing education program entitled REAL--Rural Entrepreneurship through Action Learning in which the participants learn by actually being entrepreneurs instead of just studying entrepreneurship.

The Small Business Center has a resource library that contains books, pamphlets, videos, business magazines, and IRS and Small Business Administration materials, all available on a checkout basis.

Southeastern offers a wide array of continuing education courses and opportunities for individuals who need to retrain and update themselves in a vocational area or desire instruction enabling them to grow in basic knowledge and improve in home and community life.
