SCC to Stage Star Spangled Sprint on Nov. 10

Southeastern Community College will honor veterans and encourage health and wellness on Nov. 10 with its Star Spangled Sprint, a free 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run, which will be held on campus.

The 5k will start at 10:30 a.m., following the Kids Fun Run, for children 12 years old and younger, at 10:20 a.m. Registration for both events will be held 9-10 a.m. in front of A-Building. Click here to pre-register. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded at noon.

Organizers are planning a special recognition of veterans in attendance. The event will also include a musical performance by the GLAD Trio, as well as bouncy houses for children. Food will be available for purchase from various SCC clubs and organizations.

“The Star Spangled Sprint will provide fun for the whole family,” said Mel Callihan, chair of the SCC Health and Wellness Committee. “Whether you are an avid runner or simply like to stroll, we hope that you will participate in this event as a way to exercise and to recognize our veterans, who have done so much to protect our freedom.”
