SCC President Matlock Receives Workforce Champion Award

Dr. Kathy Matlock, president of Southeastern Community College, is the recipient of the Cape Fear Workforce Development Workforce Champion 2013 award. The award was presented at the Cape Fear Council of Governments Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner Banquet on March 25, 2014.

The program says, “Southeastern Community College is a vital partner with the Cape Fear Workforce Development Board in its implementation of workforce development programs in Columbus County. Southeastern Community College is a leader in workforce development from the first One Stop Career Center in North Carolina to the first Cape Fear Workforce Center that will be certified under North Carolina’s newly implemented integrated services delivery model. Southeastern Community College has won several national and state awards for its efforts in workforce development. It is the leadership that makes things happen and Dr. Kathleen Matlock, as president of Southeastern Community College, is that person. With her interest in education and students she has that rare combination of talent and skills that propel the institution and students towards greatness!”
